Tori Mugridge

Dear Mom and Dad,

From the time I was a baby I was not an easy child. I never slept and by never slept, I mean I never napped nor slept at night. I can only imagine how challenging this was for you but one thing that I always said when I opened my eyes was that it was going to be my lucky day. You made/make everyday my lucky day. As a parent, your children come first and you made sure that Tj and I did.
You made sure that we had an amazing life, taking us on trips, letting us play whatever sport we wanted. For that I am forever grateful. I will never forget the day you told me I was going to be playing hockey. We were at Tj's lacrosse tournament and you said to me, "we signed you up to play hockey this winter Tori" and my response was, "well you just wasted a whole lot of money because I'm not playing!" That year I played hockey and I have played it ever since. You push me to do things that make me uncomfortable and most of the time you prove me wrong and show me that new things do not have to be so scary. Without you guys pushing me to play hockey I would have never found my love for this sport.
Along with support to try something new you have supported me through the toughest times of my life. In grade six, when I was bullied, you never made me feel like it was my fault and you made sure I knew I was loved. That school year was and has been the hardest year of my life. The emotional pain that I endured has forever haunted me and you remind me how loved I am and how much of a strong, wonderful woman I am.
For as long as I can remember, I for my birthday's I just wanted to get the family together for dinner. Some of my best memories come from times where our family spent time together. One of my favourite memories is from when you, Tj and myself sat around the fire singing songs together. We bonded and took in the new house.
All I want to do, is use this letter to thank you for giving me the best life I could ever ask for. You've not only given me everything I've ever asked for but you've allowed me to be who I want to be.
Dad, thank you for showing me what I deserve from the men in my life. You show me each and every day that I should never settle for a man who will not treat me with the respect I deserve. Each and every day you make me feel like the most beautiful daughter you could ask for. Even though it is basically your job to make me feel like that, you never make it seem like it is your job. You make sure to be hard on me about my decisions to make sure it is what I really want. Every time you do that it makes me stronger and stronger and more independent. Always remember that you are my favourite father and I am your favourite daughter (even if it is by default).
Mom, I am your screecher creature. You make me a stronger woman each and every day. As of recently we have gotten closer and being able to share information with you that I could not necessarily share before makes me so happy. You have been very understanding when it comes to how sick I have been the past year. I have had a snowball effect of one health issue to another and you have supported me through it all.
I love you both so, so much and do not know where I would be without either of you.
Thank you does not do justice for how thankful I really am for you both and everything you have done for me.
Every day is my lucky day thanks to both of you.
I love you to the moon and back!

Love,

Your daughter/screecher creature
