I want to thank my mom and dad because they have always been supportive of me and my university education. Back in high school, I decided that I wanted to pursue pharmacy as a career and that meant paying for 4 years of professional school tuition in addition to undergrad. In my first year of undergrad, the family business wasn't doing well and my parents decided it was better for the family to move across the country to get a fresh start. All the while, I was concerned about money. Because not only me, but also my older sister was in university and living away from home. She has since graduated, but my younger 2 siblings are now in university and I just started pharmacy school. In these past 4 years, my family of 7 (6 + my grandma) have been living on a single income. My dad is working for my uncle, but my mother has been in and out of part-time work. I knew we were struggling. I always knew. But my parents never wanted me to worry. They would never say it out loud that we had financial issues, and yet they would always have time for me and my family. Whether it was to celebrate a birthday or leave work to fly across the country for my grandpa's funeral, they always put the family and my future first. My dad would always say to me, "Don't ever worry about the money. We'll figure it out when we get there. But for now, focus on what matters." And right now, they matter the most to me. I want to support them just has much as they have supported me and even more if possible. They are my heroes, and they always have been.
