Dear Mom and Dad,
From the moment I could understand who you were I can honestly say I have never stopped feeling an unconditional attachment and love for you. You have guided me and helped me in all circumstances, and what you have done for me cannot be repaid in any amount...
Dad, you would get on my nerves when I did not want to smile. But you still made me smile every time, and thanks to you, I learn to smile through the hard times, to find joy in the gloomiest circumstances. Mom, you taught me from my youth to clean my room and do the laundry and empty the dishwasher, to practice sympathy and empathy, to become a woman of integrity and to be kind and caring. Thanks to you mom, I have become responsible and independent. Dad, you taught me that to work is a blessing and to work hard is something we should never take for granted. Mom, you taught me that even through the bleakest moments in life, there is always hope, there is always a way through. Dad, you showed me how to make great food, a skill I really cannot thank you enough for.
Even when I was at my worst, both of you never gave up on me. I would constantly do wrong and fall, but it never once crossed your mind to let me wallow in my misery. You did not let me go my own way, for who would get anywhere in life if they simply went their own way? No, you showed me a deeper meaning in life then simply living it my way, you taught me important lessons in life that I could have never learned on my own. You showed me grace and truth. You showed me that there is a time for everything; a time to laugh and cry, a time for work and play, a time to give and a time to take. You showed me that cheerfulness is the window for happiness. You showed me that never giving up on someone is imperative to their well-being. You showed me that persistence and discipline cannot be a wrong way to raise a child.
Mom and dad, I cannot thank you enough, words cannot describe all you have done for me. And now, heading into college, I know it must be hard for you to let yet another child go, but I promise to never stop coming to you, because you never did that once to me. I promise to be kind to all people, because that is something that I see in you. I promise to try my hardest in school and make you proud, because that is something you have taught me. I promise to love, because of the way that you have constantly, unceasingly and unconditionally loved me.
